The Google Home app acts as a central hub on Android and iOS to control all Google-compatible smart home devices. However, if you have a lot of products, the app feed can get very crowded, making it difficult to check quickly and easily.
Check out the amazing improvements to the Android and iOS apps.
To make your life easier, Google uses smart home controls built for Android 11+, and the Home app has been completely revamped with a simpler layout that eliminates clutter. Here's how Google Home enhances the smart home device control experience.
1. Important controls in Home view
The Home app's Home view now shows the relevant status and controls for your smart home devices so you can easily manage them. For example, the smart exposure control shows the percentage of brightness in the main display, which you can then turn on and off in an instant.
Likewise, you can view and adjust the smart speaker volume at a glance when you open the Home app. This allows you to quickly and easily control your device instead of having to search for the right option first.
2. Centralized privacy settings
In a Google Nest community announcement, the company noted that there will be a new privacy section in the settings menu of the Google Home app that will serve as a focal point for managing data on smart devices and voice assistants. From here, you can manage and view assistant data, privacy settings, and home activity.
In the new Privacy Settings page, you can also control presence detection on compatible smart home devices, allowing you to set which devices trigger an At Home or Away routine when someone is detected.
3. New home page
The Home Feed in the Home app will receive a “tidy layout” in the coming weeks. Automatically rearranges the most important and recent events and sorts similar events into groups so you don't have to scroll through lists of repeating items.
This will help you quickly expedite events that are happening in your home or that require immediate attention.
The best smart home experience
These improvements to the Google Home app provide a better smart home experience, as you can easily manage all your devices. They reduce noise and clutter and ensure quick access to easy-to-use device drivers.
