Easy Ways How To Block Text Messages On iPhone Device

How To Block Text Messages On iPhone

Since short text messages aka SMS are more relied upon to send messages quickly without taking a long time, many advertising companies then take advantage of this trend to carry out product promotion activities or disseminate information from them. Not only that, in fact, it is not uncommon for us to meet people who are desperate to send text messages with disturbing content.

Luckily, in the release of the latest platform updates, starting from iOS 7, Apple has provided special security features on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, to manage privacy on their devices. Users can block specific phone numbers that usually enter regular SMS or iMessages.

In this post, I'll give you a method you can use to get rid of annoying text messages, phone calls, and FaceTime on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.

How to block text messages on iPhone

After activating the 'Block' feature on your iPhone, you will absolutely not receive calls, SMS, and facetiming from these contacts. This process is very easy, without the need to download third-party applications or connect the device to a computer.

  1.  Access to the Contacts menu on the phone
  2.  Select the contact from the phonebook that you want to block
  3.  At the bottom, the Block this Caller option will appear
  4.  After pressing YES, a confirmation popup will appear and just press Block Contact.

By pressing the Block Contact button, you are guaranteed to be safe from the 'terror' of phone calls, SMS, or facetime invitations from people on the block list. To unblock, you just need to do the same sequence of things.

The above method works very well for the people in your Contacts list. However, it has no effect on spammers or advertising agencies trying to send different promotions and offers for their products to your number.

If you find annoying text messages from spammers or unknown numbers, then immediately block them from your iPhone too.

  1.  Go to Messages app
  2.  Select text messages from spammers
  3.  Select Details in the top right corner
  4.  There will be a phone icon and an “i” icon in the message opposite the number. Tap on the “i” icon
  5.  Scroll down the page and then hit Block this Caller.

Filter iMessage messages from unknown senders

Filtering messages from unknown senders will turn off iMessage notifications from senders not in your contacts and sort messages into the Unknown Senders tab in the Messages list.

  1. Go to Settings > Messages.
  2. Turn on the Unknown Senders Filter.

Note: You cannot open any links in messages from unknown senders until you add the sender to your contacts or reply to the message.

Again, once you tap on Block this Caller, the phone number you just blocked won't be able to make phone calls, send text messages, or Facetime.
