How to Set Up Voice Mail on iPhone

The first thing you might want to do when you get your iPhone is get voice mail settings. The good news is that if you've set up voice mail on your iPhone before, the process is still the same. However, if you're new to the iPhone, there's a tutorial below.

  1. To get started, open the Phone app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the Voicemail icon. It looks like two circles, connected by a straight line at the bottom.
  3. If this is your first time accessing Voicemail, you will see an option to set up voicemail. Tap Set Up Now to start the setup process.
  4. When prompted, create a voicemail password. Password must consist of four to six digits. Choose a password that you can remember. If you forget your password, there is no way to reset it from your iPhone. Instead, you should contact your service provider to ask them to reset.
  5. Then you will be asked to select or create a greeting. You can choose Default or Custom.
  • Default: The default greeting that prompts the caller to leave a message.
  • Custom: A greeting that you can record specifically with the information you want to include.
6. If you select Custom, tap Record to start recording your greeting. When you're done, tap Stop. If you want to review the voicemail, tap Play to listen to the recorded greeting.
7. When you are satisfied with your voicemail, tap Save to complete the voicemail setup process.


How to Set Up Visual Voicemail Transcription on iPhone

To access the voicemail transcript on your device, follow these instructions:

  1. Start by opening the Phone app on iPhone.
  2. Tap Voicemail
  3. The first time you tap a recent voicemail, the app will start copying the messages. After a few seconds, the transcription will load on the voicemail page. If you see blank lines in the transcription, they are missing words that cannot be transcribed because the message is garbled or unclear.
  4. Once the transcription is complete, you can tap the Share button to send a voicemail transcription via AirDrop, Mail, or iMessage.


How to Manage iPhone Voicemail
