How to Remove the Search Button on iPhone, in Just Three Steps

Remove the Search Button in iOS 16

In iOS 16, currently in beta, Apple added a search button to the iPhone home screen just above the dock. If you don't like this new addition and you prefer the dots showing your active page count on your home screen, you can disable it. For some users, the Search button in iOS 16 may be an annoyance, so they often want to get rid of it. Well, to do it is not difficult. Here's how to get rid of the Search button in iOS 16, just three steps!

In September 2022, Apple released the latest iteration of the iPhone operating system, iOS 16. The update brought several new features, including the Search button. The new button is on the iPhone's main screen. The location is right above the dock. For those who are not used to it, the presence of the Search button will actually be annoying.

While you can always search from the home screen by dragging down, Apple added a new button to give users a clearer way. However, if you don't like the new buttons in iOS 16, you can remove or disable them by following the easy steps below.

How to Remove Search Button on iOS 16

  • Open the Settings menu
  • Tap Home Screen
  • Under search, turn off Show on Home Screen

Once disabled, you can continue your search from the Home Screen. The trick is simple, you just need to drag the main screen downwards.

The Search button in iOS 16 allows users to quickly find what they're looking for, whether it's text messages, third-party apps, files, or notes. Users can even use it to quickly find a location on the device or the web. The buttons can also be accessed easily from the Home Screen. To do that the user just needs to touch down on any part of the main screen. Next, a Search button will appear to help.

iOS 16 adds another way to access Search from the Home Screen via a small button at the top of the device screen. However, the button has a drawback, namely that it is easy to trigger an error pressing because it is close to the thumb when touching various home pages.

Luckily, the iOS 16 feature allows users to get rid of it. The trick is simply to open Settings, then select Home Screen, and after that turn off Show on Home Screen to remove Search. After performing those three steps, the Search menu will disappear, replaced by a few small dots representing the various home screens on your device.
